CAWIN CREATING INSTALL DISKETTES

***** Last updated 3/11/97 *****

COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAMS
_______________________

Several Communications Support Programs are available which
contain the device driver programs that are needed to run
on a LAN (Token Ring or Ethernet). The programs included
in this feature are LAN Support Program, NTS/2 and TCP/IP
for DOS. If running on a LAN then you need to decide which
communications program to install.

The install diskettes for these programs can be obtained by:
o Asking your IBM representative to place an MES order for
for Program Number 5755-AS3, and chargeable Feature
   Number 8540 (V3R1) or Feature Number 8524 (V3R6).
o Or by following the directions here on how to create
installation diskettes from the tools folder.

** NOTE **
Because of a problem with backslashes not printing, all
places that require a backslash have been changed to a
vertical bar "". Make sure when you are actually entering
the path names that you use a backslash.

LAN SUPPORT PROGRAM
___________________

The LAN Support Program can be used with Client Access/400
for Windows 3.1, Client Access/400 for DOS Extended and
Client Access/400 for DOS clients. The LAN Support Program
shipped with the Windows 3.1 client is version 1.38. If
the workstation has a version earlier than version 1.35,
upgrade the workstation with version 1.38.

 To create the diskettes:
On V3R1, order SF23554 for 5763XA1 or on V3R6, order
SF28861 for 5716XA1. This will make the disk images
   available from the QIWSTOOL folder.

On V3R1, order SF24028 for 5763XA1 or on V3R6, order
SF28857 for 5716XA1. This will change the load disk file
   executable from LOADSKF.EXE to LOADDSKF.EXE.

The instructions below assume the Windows client.
If using a DOS client, ignore the instructions on
the Windows File Manager and File pull-down. Just
go to a DOS prompt and run the commands.
Note: We have experienced some problems running with
the File Manager, so it is recommended to run from
   a DOS box.

Creating Diskettes with LAN Support Program
  1. Blank format 1 diskette.
  2. Label the diskette
        LSP Disk #1
  3. Insert Disk #1 in drive A.
  4. Start an AS/400 connection.
  5. Create a network drive for the QDLSQIWSTOOL folder.
  6. Double-click on the Windows File Manager icon.
  7. Double-click on the drive icon for QDLSQIWSTOOL.
  8. Select Run from the File pull-down menu.
  9. Type the following in the Run box:
       LOADDSKF LSP138.DSK A: /F
 10. Remove the diskette. You now have a LAN Support install
     diskette.

Installing LAN Support Program
  1. Insert diskette LSP Disk #1 in drive A.
  2. Select Run from the File pull-down menu.
  3. Type the following in the Run box:
       A:DXMAID

TCP/IP PROGRAM
______________

The TCP/IP for DOS program can be used with the Client
 Access/400 for Windows 3.1 client.

The install diskettes contain a subset of the TCP/IP for
DOS product shipped with the V3R1M1 Windows 3.1 client.
The subset does not contain other TCP/IP applications
 such as TELNET and FTP.

 To create the diskettes:
   On V3R1, order PTFs SF23551, SF23552 and SF23553 for 5763XA1.
   On V3R6, order PTFs SF28858, SF28859 and SF28860 for 5716XA1.
This will make the disk images available from the
   QIWSTOOL folder.

On V3R1, order PTF SF24028 for 5763XA1 or on V3R6, order
PTF SF28857 for 5716XA1. This will change the load disk file
   executable from LOADSKF.EXE to LOADDSKF.EXE.

Creating Diskettes with TCP/IP for DOS Pogram
  1. Blank format 3 diskettes.
  2. Label the diskettes
        TCP/IP for DOS Installation
TCP/IP for DOS Device Driver #1
TCP/IP for DOS Device Driver #2
  3. Insert the TCP/IP for DOS installation disk in drive A.
  9. Type LOADDSKF S1.DSK A: in the Run box and press Enter.
 10. Remove the diskette and insert TCP/IP for DOS Disk D1
     in drive A.
 11. Select Run from the File pull-down menu.
 12. Type LOADDSKF D1.DSK A: in the Run box and press Enter.
 13. Remove the diskette and insert TCP/IP for DOS Disk D2
     in drive A.
 14. Select Run from the File pull-down menu.
 15. Type LOADDSKF D2.DSK A: in the Run box and press Enter.
 16. Remove the diskette. You now have a set of TCP/IP for
     DOS install diskettes.

Installing TCP/IP for DOS
Refer to the "Preparing to Install the Windows 3.1
Client (V3R1M1)" publication. This was automatically
shipped with your order for the refreshed version of
the Windows 3.1 client. This contains lots of information
on installing the TCP/IP with AnyNet connectivity option.

NTS/2 PROGRAM
_____________

The NTS/2 program can be used with the Client Access/400
for OS/2 (16-bit) client.

To create the diskettes:
  On V3R1, order SF24028 for 5763XA1 or on V3R6, order SF28857
for 5716XA1. This will change the load disk file executable
  from LOADSKF.EXE to LOADDSKF.EXE.

Creating Diskettes with NTS/2 Program
  1. Blank format 3 diskettes (1.44 MB)
  2. Label the diskettes
        NTS/2 Disk #1
        NTS/2 Disk #2
        NTS/2 Disk #3
  3. Insert Disk #1 in drive A.
  4. Start an AS/400 connection.
  5. Create a network drive to the QDLSQIWSTOOL folder.
  6. Open an OS/2 Window.
  7. Change the directory to QDLSQIWSTOOL.
  8. Type the following on the command prompt:
